20160411 Rs 4th Birthday

For R's birthday, CF had set things up so that he would have a present to unwrap each day for about 3 weeks.  Many presents came from friends and family on his birthday party held at Funky Monkey in Surrey.   But many also came from CF.  While he had been pining for a skee ball toy, when he finally received it from me, I think it may have been a little too hard for him and it may not have been his favorite toy.

On the night of his actual birthday, R said that he did not need Daddy to sleep next to him anymore. I was proud that my little boy was growing up but also a little sad at the same time that he was one step closer to not needing Daddy anymore.  He has always been a happy little guy and doing things properly following ideal expectations.

Recently, R has been complaining that his knee hurts.  Grandma suspects that he may have fallen and hurt himself.   But since he seems fine, I suspect that it is just growing pains.  However, A has been more and more defiant.   It seems like she finds things funny when she is being very rude or obnoxious.  On the rare occasions that she is being good and she is calm, we take every opportunity to complement her.  But she does not remain calm for long and acts up by the next morning.  It is causing me to yell and scream and lose my temper a lot more than I would like to admit.  I don't want to be like that but when she does things like wave her butt at people, try to "accidentally " kick people,  or try to "accidentally" hit R with the car door, I get furious.  This kind of behavior will lead to her hurting others or herself and is simply not acceptable.

A is a very smart girl.  I just wish she would learn to calm down.  There are just so many things that I can teach her and so many experiences that she can learn if she just settles down and listens rather than procrastinating or taking advantage of her grandparents and her mother.

20160412 Gout Attacks

2016-04-04  - had my first attack on my right big toe.  Very painful and did not get better with 4 advil (200 mg each) nor 4 naproxen sodium (250 mg each).  I went to the doctor to get a prescription of colchicine (helps to lower uric acid) and indomethacin (NSAID, painkiller).  The indomethacin did not seem to do much.  But after about a week I am at least walking fairly normally again.  Next time I will remind the doctor that the indomethacin did not work very well.
